| The name Devro is synonymous with the successful
commercialisation of collagen biomaterials. From its roots as a Johnson
& Johnson group company in the 1960's, through its successful London
flotation in 1993 the company has focussed on biomedical and food processing
applications of collagen. Today Devro operates globally, with
plants in the USA, Europe and Australia.
Most people who recognise the name Devro probably associate it with edible collagen casings and films for the processed meat industry. Not surprising, since we've been manufacturing these products for over 35 years. What is not so well-known, perhaps, is that our Australian plant has been supplying medical-grade collagen for over 12 years. Again not surprising, when you consider that the manufacture of edible collagen casings evolved out of medical research aimed at developing collagen sutures. Devro Pty Ltd is accredited to the latest AS/NZS 9001/2000 and HACCP 9000/1996. The registration covers the Food Safety & Quality Management System for the design, development, production and sale of edible bovine collagen film and casing, as well as the production and supply of collagen for medical applications. Devro's Australian facility, located at Bathurst in the rural central west district of New South Wales, is ideally located to take advantage of the 'clean green' reputation which Australia has deservedly earned. |
